David Haila

Biography
As EVP and Chief Technology Officer for Workiva, David leads our Product, Technology, Growth, and Platform Solutions teams.
David has played a critical role in Workiva’s success since joining in 2009 as a senior software engineer. Since then, David has held leadership roles of increasing responsibility, including XBRL lead architect, director of XBRL operations and senior director of product management. He has worked on both the design and development of the product's XBRL component and contributed to every aspect of research and development. In 2016, David led the Integrated Risk product area overseeing the launch of our enhanced SOX solution. Most recently, he served as VP of product.
Prior to Workiva he held positions as an application developer at Zirous and a system test lead at IBM. David has worked many years developing enterprise software.
He received his Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering from Iowa State University and holds numerous patents related to various aspects of Workiva’s products and technology. He is also a graduate of the Ames Chamber of Commerce Leadership program (2015-2016).
